How I did it

I had wanted to do it for some time, but never really got around to it - perhaps because although I liked the idea I was pretty nervous.
One day my friend said she was doing it the next day and did I want to go with her??? I accepted and never looked back - we drove there the next day and jumped! Honestly, one of the best experiences of my life so far:)

Tips & Advice You are probably scared like me - in which case just book it so that you are doing really soon - the same day or the next day if you can - this doesn't give you too much time to think about it and get nervous! When you are there check out a few landings at the site - it helps give you an idea of what you are in for and what you should be doing. Most of all - just book it. I loved it!

How I did it

I was travelling through NZ with a friend who really wanted to do it, and I didn't - I was petrified! Anyway, we came across a parachute jumping site on the internet and my friend managed to persuade me to do it - no mean feat as I was very aprehensive! We got down there they gave a brief safety talk and we were up in a plane before I knew it. I have never been so nervous as when I was getting ready to jump.. the initial freefall was scarey at the time, but once the parachute was out it was very relaxing and peaceful and I loved it. I think I enjoy it more looking back on it, and have no plans to do it again!

Tips & Advice Fantastic to do it in NZ - the view coming down were simply spectacular. If you are as scared as I was, do it with a friend who is very persuasive and will comfort you all the way to the jump!

How I did it

Both me and a friend were talking about doing it one day - so we found a site on the internet, called up and booked a time slot - it took no time at all.

Be prepared for possible weather problems. The first day was put on hold due to bad weather, and we rescheduled for the following week. The day of our return was supposed to be stormy, but we drove out to the airfield anyway and it turned out to be a beautiful day- perfect in every way.

Tips & Advice Get a video of the jump - regardless of how expensive it is. It is awesome to be able to show it to friends and family - and it is good reference for you to look back on when you are older and less inclined to do such things!
