I have completed the Linkwords programme - levels 1 - 4, and they have been awesome for learning vocab.
Basically, they link each word to a visual image, and it is really easy to remember - I can confidently say I remember all of the words which were taught to me on that course.
That said, the course does not teach much in terms of verbs and sentence structuring - but I feel with the vocab I have it is a great start. I still need to improve my speaking, listening and reading ability, but I have made a good start.

I learnt some French in school, however this was a while ago and I had forgotten a lot of it. I bought the Rosetta Stone programme and this has really helped improved my knowledge. I have a plan to complete all three levels of this course.
That said, it is not really helping me improve my speaking ability - I really need some conversation practice. I am looking into joining a course, or joining a meetup group where people get together to practice the language.

and booked it! I start in 2 weeks, and can't wait.

I would really like to be a able to hold a conversation with French people, and I would one day love to live in Paris for a time. In order to achieve this goal, I need to learn to speak French. These are the initial steps which I feel will get me started on this goal:
1 - start a beginners French course.
2- listen to french radio or TV programmes.
3. - Go to exchange classes with French nationals.

I have begun to look for French courses near me and have found a couple. I am excited to get started.

I have recently purchased the linkwords language tool. Basically, it is a CD set which lets you learn French vocabulary by associating the words with visual images. I was quite skeptical when I started using it, but I can honestly say that I am learning vocabulary at an incredible rate (especially considering I had difficultly remembering any before) and having fun doing it. For all you budding linguists out there, I recommend you give this a go.

I have been meaning to learn French for a while now. My last three housemates have been French and after years of living with them I have barely got past 'Bonjour'. I have just got back from a trip to France with some of my French friends and the whole time we were there they were all speaking English just on my account. It made me feel sufficiently embarressed that I have set definite goals to learn French. Watch this space!
