"My home sweet home"
How I did it
I have to say, there is nothing quite like having your own home. I recently bought and moved into a house with my husband, and we are absolutely loving it. We have the option to make it however we want it to be, rather than worrying about terms of a lease etc!
That said, the process of buying can be a real pain. We looked at so many houses before we found the right one, and my advise to everyone would be see as many places as possible. Although this is time consuming, it is the best way to determine what is good value for money, and what is not. Be strict with your budget, and only look at the prices up to your maximum value. If you keep searching, you will find the right one. Also, be sure to spend some time going around several banks to get the right financing package - these can vary quite significantly from bank to bank, so it is well worth doing your research. As I write this, I remember how much of a hassle it all was, but it is certainly worth it to be our own house, the house of our dreams.

Be focused - know what you want and only look at houses matching this criteria. Be prepared to look at a lot of places, and don't give up until you find the right place. Certainly don't feel pressured into buying something which isn't right for you. Also, shop around as much as possible to find the right financing. All the work will be worth it!
Buy my first house with my boyfriend
I have been renting with my boyfriend for a while now, and we really want a place of our own where we can live and start a family.
This is still a way off yet, as we need to save bit more money for a deposit, but we have worked out if we continue to save at the same rate we should have this in about a year.
Exciting just thinking about it!
