Hi, I've been setting goals #1

Hi,

I've been setting goals for a while now and I've found that there are so many benefits - it really has changed my life.
Without going into details, it has been proven that if you set down a goal in writing with specific steps and written time frames and dates you are highly likely to achieve it.
I was doing some research into goals when I first stated making them and I read a book by Tom Bay- "Look within or Do without". This book details a study performed by Harvard Business School on the financial status of its students 10 years after graduation and found that:
- about 27% of them needed financial assistance.
- c. 60% of them were living paycheck to paycheck.
- Only 10% of them were living comfortably.
- And 3% of them were financially independent.
The study also looked at goal setting and found these interesting correlations.
- The 27% that needed financial assistance had absolutely no goal setting process in their lives.
- The 60% that were living paycheck to paycheck had basic survival goals;such as managing to live paycheck to paycheck.
- The 10% that were living comfortably had general goals. They thought they knew where they were going to be in the next five years.
- The 3% that were financially independent had written out their goals and the steps required to reach them.

The result of this study seems almost too perfect, but it really hammered home the importance of setting goals. I can say, from personal experience, that my life has rocketed since I started setting detailed goals and planning my life - I basically have a lot more direction and focus. I have found this site an excellent way to set goals, document them, plan steps and prepare a time line - it really is great for me.

I hope this helps you - I'm confident that you'll get everything you want from your life once you start creating your goals.

I found this article from #2

I found this article from Brian Tracy (author of The 100 Absolutely Unbreakable Laws of Business Success) it really inspired me to set goals in my life!

"The ability to set goals and make plans for their accomplishment is the “master skill” of success. It is the single most important skill that you can learn and perfect. Goal-setting will do more to help you achieve the things you want in life than will anything else you’ve been exposed to. Becoming an expert at goal-setting and goal-achieving is something that you absolutely must do if you wish to fulfill your potential. Goals enable you to do the work you want to do, to live where you want to live, to be with the people you enjoy, and to become the kind of person you want to become. And there is no limit to the financial rewards you can obtain. All you have to do is to set a goal for financial success, make a plan, and then work the plan until you succeed in that area. "

Basically, the key to achieving great things in any are of your life is to set goals. I've just started setting goals using this site - heres to both of our success Potter!

Right it might sound like I am copying every one else on here but as most people have said, I have been setting goals for years and for me it has really worked. If I don't have goals I don't have direction. I used to go through day to day just plodding along thinking nothing good is happening in my life, always hoping for something good to come up but at the end of the day I did not actually believe that anything good would happen. After reading a few books that were recommended to me my opinion changed. Let me tell you some of the goals I set.
1) Have my own place
2) Be earning £x amount per year
3) Have a brand new car
4) Live with a positive attitude
These are just 4 of the goals I set 2 years ago. Within 4 months I was moving into my new place, 2 months after that a job came up that a friend told me about earning exactly what I was looking for which also included my ideal brand new car. So these were the 3 material goals set and all achieved within 6 months of setting them as goals and focusing on them. I set many more life and attitude changing goals which I have achieved too. In relation to point 4, live with a positive attitude this is a very important on going goal for me. I love life and appreciate every day I look forward to what I am going to attract to my self each day. I might sound cheesy by saying it but that is why I love this web site, because every one on here is here for 1 reason to set goals and put direction into their lives. To be able to share my goals with others or use other peoples goals with like minded views is great.
