Stretching

I've started out on my fitness goal ok. I hope I can stay focused for the next several months.
Since I have a couple of injuries that come back periodically to haunt me, I know that I need to be as knowledgeable about and prepared for my workouts as possible. Therefore, I decided first to do stretches each day for a week prior to getting back into the gym. I'm doing a general overall stretch but I'm particularly focusing on my problem areas:
Left elbow: I have acute tendinitis or golfers elbow... but I don't play golf. Which I find rather humorous because somehow, the mention of golfers elbow suddenly instantly has people seeing me in a more sophisticated light. Psychological quirks have always fascinated me. But I digress... I think it was originally caused by improper weight lifting. For two days now, I've included in my routine the stretches that my physical therapist prescribed three years ago.
For my shoulder, I've been stretching those as well. A couple of years ago I took a stab at getting a personal trainer. By week three I had pulled a tendon in my left shoulder (probably over compensating for the elbow,) and was down for a while. Feeling defeated, I never went back to training.
As for my knees... well, I've actually been getting cortisone shots under the kneecaps to combat worn cushioning between my patella and femur. It's a condition that they believe may be caused by underdeveloped interior adductors on the inside of my thigh. And yes, it's been a couple of years since my last shot so they are starting to give me some problems. But I'm thinking that strengthen the inside of my thighs will aid the situation some I'm focusing on those areas as well.
I'm feeling pretty good about the first two days. No, I can't reach my toes or anything, but I found that I do have more flexibility than I thought before going into it. Most importantly, I'm not experiencing any abnormal soreness or pain. I'll be stretching that extra three inches and touching my toes before I know it.
